Moeche

The Moeche Castle is famous for being one of the key sites of the Irmandiña revolt in the 15th century. Built in the 14th century as a fortress for the Andrade family, it was used to exert their harsh control over the region. However, in 1431, peasants and minor nobles rebelled against feudal oppression and took the castle, though the Andrade soon regained control. Today, the restored castle houses an interpretation center dedicated to medieval Galician history.
