The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is not only the most emblematic temple in Galicia, but also one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in the world. Its imposing Baroque façade welcomes thousands of pilgrims each year, who arrive after walking the Way of Santiago. Inside, the majestic Portico of Glory, a Romanesque masterpiece, leaves visitors breathless. You can’t leave without embracing the statue of the Apostle Saint James or witnessing the flight of the Botafumeiro, the enormous censer that flies over the central nave on special occasions.
