This hillfort, located on a hill overlooking the Arnoia River valley, was an important Gallaeci-Roman settlement between the 4th century BC and the 2nd century AD. Archaeological excavations have uncovered remains of circular dwellings and valuable artifacts, including the famous “Stele of Castromao,” which features Latin inscriptions. Its strategic location suggests it played a defensive and commercial role in the region.
