Considered the oldest monastery in Galicia, San Pedro de Rocas is a unique site carved directly into the rock. Its origins date back to the 6th century, when a group of hermits sought this spot as a place of spiritual retreat. The small rock-hewn church, with chapels carved into the stone, still preserves medieval frescoes that depict religious scenes. The bell tower, built on top of a massive rock, seems to defy both time and gravity. Surrounded by legends and wrapped in a mysterious landscape, San Pedro de Rocas remains a place where the primitive spirituality of the Ribeira Sacra endures.
